We've Arrived!

Hurray! We made it to Tanzania! After 2 days of traveling and all the usual hassles, we finally arrived in Dar es Salaam Wed. afternoon (Tan. time). We were greeted at the airport by about 20 from the Haven of Peace Church as well as Don & Rochelle. We were not expecting a delegation! The Tanzanian Christians were so warm and welcoming, that we instantly felt at home and were so glad we came. Alice and I got to ride separately with Rochelle. We enjoyed visiting with her and used the time to ask all kinds of questions. Our first stop was at the Haven of Peace church. "Church" here is not exactly what we had envisioned. There was a small block building there, but we met outside under a canopy of sorts. The church choir beautifully sang for us, complete with choreography. Then they asked us to sing. Tired and unprepared as we were, I'm not sure that was any treat, but they were very gracious. Driving through the city was an experience in itself. They drive on the left side of the road, and the traffic is terrible. At first the roads were paved, but as we neared the neighborhood where the Buckners live we got to see the "real" African roads. To say they have potholes is a real understatement. We settled part of our group at the Ziem's home and the rest of us crashed at the Buckner's. It felt so good to finally sleep in a bed. I'm not sure all my faculties are fully restored even after a night of rest, so I'll save more details for later. We are so grateful for your prayers for our safely. God has answered those petitions, and we can't wait to see what comes next!

Before I read this blog Kallie jumped on Facebook barely long enough to say hi. By the time I had responded she was off. Still it brought a smile to my face knowing that God had provided safe travel to the team. We look forward to more updates of how God is working!

We enjoyed spending time with all of you on the trip to the airport. It was a little sad to come home and not be able to go with you. Maybe in the future if God leads. Take care and know you are in our prayers.
